When it comes to test-taking skills and note taking, I am always having a hard time. But now thanks to the book, The Skinny on College Success, I have learned a few tips on how to get the best out of both and how to improve what I already know. You have to give it your best, your 100% because tests/exams will be part of your permanent record for life. There are three steps you can follow. The first step is to prepare myself and that’s by taking notes, going to class, reading and self-assess. The second step to help you is while you are taking the test: answer the essay questions first and then the other questions and allow yourself time to do both of this; it tells me to not stress out (that is something I always do), and the last step is when you get your test back do not look over the grade, put it in your bag pack and don’t feel so bad, analyze your mistakes and even though the test is over I can get help from my teacher in the area I don’t understand things. When taking notes during class the best thing to do is write down the lecture date and tittle. Listen for any kind of hint. You need to go over your notes always, and remember what you studied. I love reading and, I agree with what the book says, the more you read, the more you know and the better you will write. One best way to do this is by going to the library. At first, I didn’t know where to go and seek help but after that tour now I know where I can find things that can be very helpful to me. Other way is to learn how to use it to balance all four things, like having fun but at the same time learning.
I started this blog in order to fulfill one of my English class requisites. What I am writing is just for fun and it was not created to make fun of, or with the intention to put anyone down. With that say, have a laugh and enjoy your day! :)
